What I did during holidays...

It was a busy week for us(my family) because my mom decided to renovate our home. We did some cleaning, moved our furnitures here and there. Just imagine a power of five lady in
the house to do those heavy-working. Very tired, of course! Luckily my sister's boyfriend did helped us on the second day. My room quite wider after no more messy-stuffs-after-exam. I can see my room more tidy and beautiful. Hahaha! But not long after that, there were four of them(the contractors) came and measuring the width of the floor. We felt so excited because you know, a new look of the house after a renovation.

Here's come the.... disastrous-annoying-burdening feelings that happened to me!!!! Aaarrrrgghhh! In the afternoon, I could feel my tooth and gum were hurt and this kind of feeling that I don't know how to explain. I guess you guys know how it feels. Toothache. The most annoying was it is one of my wisdom tooth! This wisdom tooth starts to 'grow' when I was 16 and now I'm 19 yet it is still not growing and showing its fullest tooth. How hurt it is! 3 years I've been enduring it. Hmm.. not that it is always sick every days, weeks or months, but it will sick unexpectedly you've ever imagined. Trust me!

I kept on telling my mom to bring me to the dentist. The more I told my mom, the more I remembered what the dentist has said to me before. "If your gum is swollen, we can't pluck your tooth or else it worsen your gum." Then what do you expect? I endured the sick-gum for that day. I was hoping it would get better the next day. When I just woke up the next day, I could feel my right cheek is swollen. I ran to the toilet and saw myself in the mirror. Yes. My cheek has swollen and I could see the red vein on my cheek. I feel bad. I wanted to go to the dentist! I felt annoyed with this swollen and also with the noisy sound from the contractor. I felt like punching someone face! Seriously, it is awful! Terribly! I could not talk, smile, laugh, eat, drink and everything with this swollen cheek. My excitement just washed away in the drain. Bye excitement :(

My mom did remind me to gurgle with salt water to reduce the swollen. I did that and I can feel a little annoying feeling were reducing. I'm glad, a bit. Then I tried another alternative. I googled for how to face a toothache problem. 'Petua mengurangkan sakit gigi' . I read people's experiences and I've got something! Yes, I will follow this solution! After 4 days enduring the pain, finally I could not feel the pain anymore after that. Happy! Our house also has done for its renovation. I'm happy and everyone is happy! Yaaayyy.

**I will share some of the tips that I've read another day. :)

Clinical Placement D4

Day 4 : 19 th May 2016 My colleague (Fatin) and I listened and involved in the passing report. So we only had one patient which was admitted in the afternoon of 18 th May 2016. This patient has Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT). The SVT is an abnormally fast heart rate of more than 60 beats per minute. This patient has around 115 beats per minute. So during the doctors' round, the patient has questions and answers session with the doctors. The doctors explained to him what should be done to reduce the heart rate per minute. The doctor gave opinion of first, taking medicine and see the outcomes and if the medicine do not show any positive outcomes, operation would be the ones. Then the patient asked where should the surgery be done. So the doctor said most patients were going to Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) or to Singapore. The doctor informed the patient that it would cost around BND 40K per surgery. It really shocking tho, the price. Huhu... Around ...

Clinical Placement D3

Day 3 : 18 th  May 2016 My colleagues and I were managed to listen to the passing report from night duty staff nurses. So there are only 3 patients in total. One patient to transfer out to the medical ward. Whereby one patient to have a CT Scan (Computerized Tomography Scan) to RIPASH as the CT scan machine in SSBH is still under maintenance. So we have to prepare the transport system (ambulance), the sending off forms, the items that are required in case of emergency such as the Automated External Defibrillators (AED), the oxygen tank. The patient is ready sitting on the wheelchair. Then we went to the ground floor as the ambulance was awaiting us. After sending off the patient, we went back to the unit and we had a long briefing on the drugs names and its indication with the Sister. He surely has a lot of knowledge on the medications'   indication. We surely learned a lot. The drugs that we discussed are mostly and commonly used in the ICU. Oh yeah, the Sister s...

Clinical Placement

Day 1 : 16 th May 2016 Today is the first day of our 7 th rotation of Clinical Placement. So this rotation, I was assigned in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Suri Seri Begawan Hospital (SSBH) in Belait District. There are four of us assigned in this unit. I was a bit nervous because this is the first time we were located in different hospitals among our colleagues. Some at Tutong Hospital, Renal Centre in Kiaraong and Rimba, and others are at RIPAS Hospital. The staffs are very welcoming us in the unit and do a short briefing/orientation around the unit itself. Then we were called by the Matron and Sisters to meet them for the first time. They gave us briefing and a short welcoming speech. Then we had a 'hospital-round' to familiarize with the hospital setting or layout. We even went to the Medical and Surgical wards as well as the Obstretic and Gynaecology ward. Briefing from the Sister regarding the ICU settings. The roles of the staffs in the ICU T...
